Dear parent/carer,

I have tried to contact you this evening but unfortunately was unable to speak with you in person.   I was contacting you to let you know that there has been a positive case of Covid-19 involving an individual at our school.

NHS Lanarkshire has conducted a full assessment of the case and have asked that I bring the following to your attention:

  • Your child has been identified by NHS Lanarkshire as a close contact of a person who has tested positive for Covid-19. The contact has been identified as having taken place on:    Tuesday 17th of November

  • Your child is now required to isolate for 14 days from this date: therefore the last day in isolation will be:   Monday 30th of November

  • If you choose to seek a test and you are without symptoms, even if this returns negative, you are still required to isolate for the 14 days as you could still be incubating the virus.

  • New guidance from the Scottish Government states that the increased restrictions where all household members are to self-isolate has been stopped. Therefore, it is only your child, who should self-isolate for 14 days and can return to school on Tuesday the 1st of December

Isolation is for your child only, the other members of your household do not need to isolate unless you or anyone else in your household develop COVID-19 symptoms such as cough, fever or loss of taste or smell. If this is the case, you should book a test at www.nhsinform.scot as soon as possible. All members of your household would then need to isolate until the result of the test is known.

However, the aim of self-isolation is to reduce the transmission of coronavirus infection and to reduce the number of people who may become ill and ultimately the approach is to keep you safe.

A letter with further advice and guidance will follow shortly from NHS Lanarkshire.

You can view a copy of this letter now on the school website now.

Visit here for copy of letter which will be sent to you

In the meantime, can I thank you for your understanding and hope that by adopting this health advice you continue to keep well.

Regards

Nick Quail
