National 4 Mathematics 

Entry to the course.
Pupils who achieve success with Level 3 material by the end of S3 will progress to completing the National 4 course in S4.

Added Value unit
Assessment of all course material. 
Homework
 
Homework is an essential part of the National 4 course and will often take the form of completion of exercises started in class.
Formal homework exercises are assigned to consolidate the course material and prepare candidates for the course assessments. Pupils receive feedback on their work and advice on how to improve understanding. 

Assessment and reporting
The National 4 course is assessed through internal unit assessments spread throughout the year, one for each of the units. The added value unit assesses the entire National 4 course and comprises of a non calculator and calculator paper. 

Parents/Guardians receive feedback on pupil progress via tracking reports throughout the year. 

Progression
​Successful completion of this course may lead to further study at National 5 level.
