2 groups of 12 S2 pupils have recently visited local gym, Protein Jakes, as part of a health and wellbeing topic, being covered in housetime. Pupils from 2H1 and 2C1 have been working on the topic from October last year. They met gym owner, Mark Dickson, and personal trainer Gordon Adam, back in December, when they two men spoke to the pupils about their jobs and the benefits of staying fit and healthy. Over a four weeks period, all pupils will have the opportunity to visit the gym, accompanied by Mrs Stefanie Chalmers, of Performing Arts and Miss Claire Douglas, Principal Teacher of English, where they will take part in a circuits class, run by both Gordon and Mark.
Mrs Chalmers and Miss Douglas, were thoroughly impressed with the first two groups who have already visited the gym. Gym owner, Mark, was delighted with the pupils’ attitudes and hard work during the sessions. Unsure of what to expect, having not taught a class to pupils before, he had been pleasantly surprised with the Clyde Valley youngsters and was looking forward to the next two weeks.
