Bobath Presentation

25/6/2015

Picture
Sonya Barrie and Virginia Anderson from ‘Bobath Scotland’ were very welcome guests last week. On behalf of the entire school, Captains, Eilidh Murray, Iain Denholm and Heather Waugh, presented Sonya and Virginia with a cheque for £5000, the magnificent total raised during our recent Charities Week. Mr Vincent Lanagan, Depute Head Teacher in charge of S4-S6, who assisted the captains with the coordination, was also on hand to meet our visitors, along with Head Teacher, Mr Nick Quail. Both Sonya and Virginia were overwhelmed by the huge donation and explained that it would go a long way to helping the people in their care.

SIxth Year Formal

25/6/2015

Picture
Staff and the outgoing sixth year pupils gathered at the Avonbridge Hotel in Hamilton for their annual S6 Formal.

Mr Vinny Lanagan, Depute Head Teacher, welcomed everyone before introducing school captains, Eilidh Murray, Laura Kilpatrick, Heather Waugh and Iain Denholm. The captains fondly remembered their six years at Clyde Valley and, with great humour, recalled some of the more bizarre events from their catalogue of memories. They finished off by paying tribute to the staff who had given them so many opportunities over their six years.

Replying on behalf of the staff, Mr Quail thanked the year group for their contribution to the life of the school over the past six years and wished them well for the future.

Staff and pupils then danced the night away to celebrate their happy times together. We wish them all well in their future endeavours.

Anti Sectarianism Project

10/6/2015

Clyde Valley High School have been hugely involved in an anti-sectarianism project over the last few months. Raising awareness and highlighting the issues surrounding the problem of sectarianism.
This has involved presentations and workshops by different companies who tackle this issue such as Nil By Mouth and Sense over Sectarianism. The project was funded by Made for you in ML2 and Sense over Sectarianism. The project was celebrated in Clyde Valley High School on Monday 8th June with the other schools involved, St Aidans and Coltness. exhibiting their artwork and the premier of CVHS A-Z on sectarianism and the drama group performing their own play.

Wishaw Select Football

8/6/2015

15 of our boys joined with 15 boys each from Coltness HIgh and St Aidans High to form the Wishaw Select Football teams at S1, S2 and S3 age groups. The teams travelled to Belfast as part of an anti-sectarian project run by Nil by Mouth. The trip included a visit to the Titanic Museum followed by games of football verses a Belfast schools select. Although results did not  go the way of the Wishaw Select boys a good time was had by all.  It is hoped that this will be the start of an annual event and that the Belfast Schools select will be able to visit Wishaw next year.
